The Information Technology 9 course for 2010 begins to concentrate on the individual concepts of technology learned in the Technology Systems courses. Rather than broadly examining topics in technology, students will take an in-depth look at a few specific ideas within technology. The grades 6-12 Technology curriculum has been designed as a means to promote and encourage Technological Literacy amongst the students.
Technological Literacy is the ability to use, manage, assess, and understand technology. The units covered throughout each grade level of the program incorporate these important fundamentals of learning in order to achieve Technological Literacy.
Students will use various print and electronic resources while studying each unit. All projects have been designed to promote both independent and collaborative work. Each year of the program will review and build upon the foundation of knowledge developed in previous years.

Energy and Power Systems – Solar and Wind Power
Technical Communication – Ethics, Plagiarism, Resume`s and Business Communication
Each school year students will also develop and enhance an Electronic Portfolio. This portfolio will be a living work that it is under constant revision and development. The content of this portfolio will be driven by the units studied in courses outside of IT. Students will have the opportunity to select assignments from their courses in which to develop a meta-cognitive reflection upon.

Examining the theory behind problem solving combined with product design, sketching and drawing; students will gain an understanding into how technology plays an integral role in our lives. Students will also examine basic Architectural drawing and theory. The Digital Media course for 2010 concentrates on four main topics. In quarter 1 students will focus on Digital Photography. In quarter 2 students will examine Engineering Drawing and Design. In quarter 3 the course will focus on the production of the school yearbook. In quarter 4 the course will examine basic PC Trouble Shooting and maintenance. The Technology Applications course for 2010 is a combination of two quarters of Digital Media and two quarters of Studio Music. The course is available to Juniors and Seniors only with the approval of the instructors.
