Grade 6 students will explore all areas of the music-making experience – singing, playing instruments, moving, listening, creating, reading, notating, directing, and performing. There will be two required performances which will feature the class as a choir. This age is an exciting time for young musicians as they deal with their changing voices while learning to sing in multiple parts.
Throughout the year I hope to nurture creativity and appreciation in all areas of music, provide a wide variety of musical experiences, further the understanding of music through a wide variety of activities, build self confidence through our exploration of music, and encourage life-long learners in music.
Students will be graded on participation and effort more than on their actual musical ability or talent.

Quarter 4(this quarter is not quite so defined by a “choir day” or “drama day.” Rather I try to incorporate the skills, games and exercises of both on a daily basis.
